A very handsome and unique pair of Italian mid 18th century Roman armchairs. Each green colored polychrome armchair, à Chassis, which signifies that the upholstery is easily removed and changed for every season, is raised on scrolled legs, joined by a straight stretcher. At the arbalest shaped frieze is a central giltwood shell and border that continues at each side. The giltwood band continues along the whole contour of the chair with scrolled arms and leather armrests. The impressive top crown is decorated with a large giltwood seashell and scrolls that continue down each side. The seat and backrest retain the original leather, each with a unique family crest. With all original gilt throughout.
