An exceptional French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu, patinated bronze and Brèche Violette marble clock. The clock is raised by a square marble base with cut corners and a mottled border. The central ormolu support is raised by handsome paw feet with scrolled foliate movements flanking a finely chased design on an etched background. The tapered marble fut is decorated by an ormolu Les Oves design, with garlands at each corner and a central finely chased mask within foliate movements. At the side is a richly detailed and most charming patinated bronze cherub. The enameled dial displays pierced ormolu hands. All below the very impressive ormolu top crown accented with acanthus leaves and scrolled foliate designs.
