A stunning and high quality Italian early 19th century Louis XV st. giltwood and marble center table. The table is raised by elegantly scrolled legs accented with carved acanthus leaves. The legs are joined by a striking scrolled X shaped stretcher centered by a richly carved floral woven basket. Above each leg is a carved decorative cabochons with floral designs. The most impressive pierced arbalest shaped frieze is centered by a beautifully carved seashell reserve with swaging floral garlands and intertwined foliate movements. The original marble top displays spectacular inlaid designs with a central Sienna marble floral reserve, Black Belgium marble and white Carrara marble accents, all set in a Rouge Jaspé marble background. The marble top follows the elegant contour of the base with a rare and most decorative double mottled border. All original gilt throughout.
