A sensation and large scaled pair of French early 19th century Louis XVI st. Sèvres porcelain vases, signed Jacob Petit. The pair are raised by a square block base with a mottled plinth and gilt trim. The front and back of the base are richly decorated with a bouquet of colorful flowers while the sides have a gilt lattice design. Above each is an elegant oblong circular vase raised on a socle with most impressive hand painted floral arrangement. Each vase has gilt scrolled pierced handles with masculine masks. Exceptional quality.
Jacob Petit (1796-1868) was a renowned Parisian hard-paste porcelain producer for the Sèvres porcelain manufacturer and then purchased his own porcelain factory with his brother in Fontainebleau in 1830.
