French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Giltwood And Marble Center Table

A most elegant French 19th century Louis XVI st. giltwood and marble center table. The table is raised by fine circular tapered fluted legs with foliate top carvings. Each leg is connected by a decorative geometric stretcher with an entrelacs et les rosaces pattern and a striking central urn finial draped in flowers. At the corner of the apron are beautiful block rosettes centering a carved plaque with a smooth central cabochon. All amidst rinceau shaped foliate movements and striking entrelacs et les rosaces, the back is likewise decorated, while each side displays mirrored entrelacs et les rosaces patterns. Above is the original Varois marble top which follows the contours of the table, with protruding corners and a mottled border. All original gilt throughout.
