A most elegant French 19th century Louis XVI st. five drawer desk with two pull out extensions. The desk is raised by circular tapered fluted legs with carved reeded block reserves at each corner. Each of the five drawers display a recessed panel with a carved beaded band and retain their original keyhole escutcheons, pulls and hardware. Above is the wonderfully executed faux painted top to look like a fitted writing surface with a fine central reserve depicting a charming tied ribbon amidst foliate movements and musical instruments, framed within a beaded border. The original pull outs to each side also display a faux painted top and retain their original pulls.
