An fine French 19th century Directoire st. patinated Récamier bench. This elegant style of bench is named after Madame Récamier, a Parisian socialite, who was a subject of a renowned painting by J.L.David whilst posing on a similar style bench. The bench is raised by circular tapered fluted legs with acanthus leaf carved feet and decorative carved block rosette reserves. The straight apron displays a richly carved coeur de rai mottled band. Each arm displays an elegant lyre shape and pierced turned design. All original patinated finish throughout.
