A spectacular French 19th century neo-classical Louis XVI st. clock. The clock labeled 'l' etude du tempes(study of The weather) is signed 'monbro aine' a Parisby 'jacquier, Paris' rue basse du rempart. 1850-1860. The clock raised on an impressive black Belgium marble base is heavily decorated on three sides by scrolled ormolu mounts with chiseling of acanthus leaves. Above The base sits a woman in ormolu (with all original gilt) reading a book while leaning on a platform with figures on both sides of The large enameled dial. Above are tools of astronomy and a globe
