French Mahogany Directoire St. Dining Chairs

A very handsome and complete set of ten French turn of the century mahogany and ebonized Directoire st. dining chairs. Each chair is raised by curved square tapered legs below a straight apron. The ‘C’ scrolled pierced backs have a central zigzag intertwined design with ebonized circles in between. At the top is a wide back support. Wonderful proportions and style.

A spectacular Italian rectangular shaped Pietra Dura dining room table top inlaid with various marble, semi precious stones and Blue John. The top has a moulded edge and a very fanciful design of medallions, diamond and octagon shapes amidst foliate scrolls. The various stones are set within a black Belgium marble background. Exquisitely executed. All raised on modern stone dolphin bases. This marble top can also be used at a coffee table height.

A Pair Of 18th Century Louis XV Period Ormolu Sconces

A stunning and most powerful pair of 18th century Louis XV period ormolu sconces. Each back plate is in the form of a martial trophy with helmets, arrows, drums and armor, above the tapered base ending in an acanthus leaf bottom finial. Each sconce has two leaf and husk cast ‘C’ scrolled arms with fluted candlecups. All original gilt.

A Pair Of 19th C Louis XVI St. Ormolu & Marble Side Tables.

A most unusual pair of 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu, marble and glass side tables. The impressive solid Rosa marble base rests on an ormolu circular support decorated with acanthus leaves at the bottom and an ormolu beaded border at the top. Above sits the charming cherub, on a patinated bronze seat, with his legs crossed draped and with an acanthus leaf wreath on his head. The ormolu cherub is holding up the thick irregular shaped glass top with a bullnose edge. All original gilt.

A lovely 19th century Louis XV st. four shelf corner étageres. Comprised of tulipwood with ormolu fitted bands, the shelves are inlaid with a floral marquetry of exotic woods. The curved tulipwood spine and tapering ‘S’ scrolled side supports are also fitted with ormolu bands. Rich wood grain and original patina.

An exquisite pair of early 19th century Italian giltwood mirrors with original gilt and mirror plates.The unique scrolled shape of each mirror is decorated by richly carved lattice designs, scrolling shapes and acanthus leaves. The mirror is flanked by profiles of theatrical masks below the pierced scrolled top frame. Each mirror has an impressive top crown of acanthus leaves above more scrolls and lattice designs.

An elegant and high quality French 19th century Louis XV st. two drawer tulipwood commode with ormolu mounts and marble top. The bombee shaped commode is raised by slender cabriole legs and has a scalloped apron. The ‘sans traverse’ drawers have a central floral inlaid medallion bordered by scrolled designs of tulipwood and decorated by ‘S’ scrolled richly chased ormolu handles. The sides are decorated by a scrolled foliate design. At the top lays it original ‘Breche d’Alep’ moulded edge marble. All original hardware.

Italian 18th Century Games Table

A wonderful 18th century, ca. 1780, country Italian, console/ games table in burl walnut and fruitwood. Raised by cabriole legs below the scalloped apron with a drawer. Above is the flip top inlaid with a ‘Fleur de Lis’ (French royal symbol ), at each corner and a central scrolled inlaid reserve. The back legs pivot to support the flip top which opens to reveal a central inlaid reserve with a Fleur de Lis border. Warm original patina throughout.

18th Century Louis XVI Period Mahogany Desk, Signed Mauter
Item No. 4059
A very high quality late 18th century Louis XVI period mahogany writing table, signed C. Mauter. Raised by round tapered fluted supports with ormolu chandelles in the chutes ending with ormolu thimble sabots. The shaped frieze has three drawers with ormolu keyhole escutcheons and two keys. Moulded side panels and each corner also decorated with ormolu fitted chandelles. Rectangular top with a fitted gold-tooled tan leather bordered by mahogany. All original ormolu mounts and hardware.

French 19th C Louis XV St. Kingwood & Ormolu Desk

A superb French mid 19th century Louis XV st. kingwood and ormolu mounted desk, in the manner of F. Linke. The desk is raised by slender cabriole legs decorated by ormolu chutes, wrap around sabots and acanthus leaf designed top mounts. The arbalest shaped apron has three drawers with the central drawer decorated by a grotto style ormolu mount amidst flowers and foliage, each side drawer is bordered by an ormolu band with an intertwined floral garland. The burgundy colored gilt tooled leather top is fitted within an inlaid kingwood border and ormolu gallery.
