A large and rare Italian late 17th Century honey colored carved oak statue of a young ‘Bacchus’. Raised by a square carved base, Bacchus has crossed legs and is turned toward his right side leaning on a grapevine trunk. Bacchus wearing naturalistic shaped attire holding some grapes in his left hand. Impressive proportions and quality of carving. All original patina. Extremely decorative.
