A very impressive and high quality French 19th Century Transitional st. tulipwood, exoticwood and ivory chest. The breakfront shaped chest has 3 drawers and is raised by impressive cabriole legs with ormolu sabots. The two bottom drawers, without crossbar, have an elaborate inlay of an architectural landscape, flanked by courting scenes on all sides. Above is the smaller drawer with 3 exquisite scrolling foliage inlaid designed reserves centered by laurel wreath shaped ormolu handles. At the top lays the attractive original thick edge ‘Breche Violette’ marble. Length: 52" Depth: 22.5" Height: 35"
