A spectacular richly chased and grand scale pair of French mid 19th century Empire st. 4-arm electrified ormolu sconces. The pair have scrolled foliate below a platform with a winged maiden in classical dress. The maiden with her hands on the sides of the square tapered fut displaying the empire owl , crescent and star. The central fut supports the double scrolled arms decorated by acanthus leaves and medusa with serpents at the candlecups. All original gilt. Length: 14" Depth: 6.5" Height: 27"
