A most impressive French 19th century patinated bronze of a horse, on a red griotte marble base, being restrained by a groom. Modeled after the horses of Marly, by Guillaume Coustou, (1677-1746). Coustou was commissioned by Louis XV for the horse pond at the Chateau de Marly. In 1795 these famous horsed earned a place at the Champs Elysees and later in 1894, at the Louvre museum. Wonderful quality throughout.
