A high quality and spectacular French 19th century Louis XVI style mahogany, satinwood and finely chased ormolu mounts ‘ Bureau Cylindre’ with all original gilt and hardware.
The desk is raised by very elegant tapering legs adorned by detailed ormolu mounts throughout with original wrapped around ormolu sabots. Above the central drawer is an impressive central ormolu reserve. The upper bombee part of the desk reveals a series of 9 interior compartments and small drawers. Then the bottom part flips over the drawer and becomes a stunning writing surface with a handsome fitted tooled red leather. At the top is central drawer with a richly chased scrolling ormolu reserve and is flanked by two scalloped pierced ormolu galleries while above is a three quarter ormolu gallery. Wonderful quality.
