A very high quality and spectacular Russian early 19th century Empire style mahogany ' Bureau a Cylindre' with all original gilt and hardware. The square feet with brass reeded plaques below three large drawers bordered with brass filets, have ormolu handles and keyholes. The handsome cylinder roll up framed with brass filets, pulls and mounts, opens to reveal a leather fitted pullout and smaller drawers of various sizes. The curved sides of the desk are adorned with brass rosettes and reeded filets. Above are two additional drawers flanking a central slide opening to display letter slots, all decorated with ormolu handles, pulls and brass filets. The elegant top is decorated with unique brass finial mounts on brass edged tiered sides and central brass pierced gallery. Length: 43" Depth: 21" Height: 55.5"
