A sensational and important three piece French 19th century neo-classical st. black Belgium marble and ormolu garniture set. The clock is raised by a rectangular marble plinthe with impressive finely chased ormolu mounted supports of scrolling foliage and a rich floral garland at the center. Above is the roman numeral enamel dial with a thick acanthus leaf shaped ormolu border. With outstanding pierced 'Palmette' designed ormolu mounts at each corner. At the top stands a most attractive ormolu lion with his paw resting on a ball. The tazzas are raised by a black marble block with large 'c' scrolled ormolu handles, and very elaborate classical designs throughout. All original gilt. Length: 19.5" Depth: 7.5" Height: 25"
