A very attractive and unusual French dated 1863 patinated bronze and ormolu elevated tazza signed Picard. The tazza is raised by four pawed supports while the circular base is decorated by a reeded design. The fluted tapering central fut is flanked by very elaborate ormolu palmette. A lizard eating a cricket decorates The fut. at The top is a large tazza flanked by an ormolu mask of Dyonisius on both sides has a central ormolu plaque depicting the mythological scene of the 'captivity of Syracuse'.
