An important and high quality French mid 19th century transitional st. tulipwood, kingwood and exoticwood, inlaid 2 drawer, chest with all original ormolu mounts. The scalloped apron is raised by cabriole legs with wrapped paw shaped ormolu sabots and a pierced chased ormolu reserve at the center. The chest has an elegant break front shape with an elaborate designed inlay of musical instruments and an impressive laurel wreath flanked by urns & floral bouquets. The rounded corners have classical ormolu chutes and the sides have a quarter veneered inlay. At the top lays a moulded 'Breche d'Alep marble top.
