A monumental English 19th century George II finely giltwood console. The console is raised by four large S scrolled legs with handsome richly carved claw and ball feet and fine eagle heads at each corner. The straight frieze is decorated with extremely decorative mirrored Vitruvian scrolls in a satin and burnished finish. All set on a hammered background above a richly carved swaging garland centered by a handsome lion's head identifying the king. Above a giltwood Les Oves pattern is the original Brèche Violette two inch thick marble top fitted within a giltwood border. — Read Less
