A striking and most unique French 18th century Louis XV period Kingwood, ormolu and Amethyst side table. The one drawer table is raised by most elegant stout cabriole legs with fitted foliate ormolu sabots and exceptional foliate chutes with wonderful water flora designs leading to beautiful pierced corner mounts in a superb satin and burnished finish. The scalloped frieze displays a stunning curvaceous bombee shape with butterfly veneered Kingwood designs and one drawer at the front decorated with striking richly chased foliate ormolu mounts and a delicate ormolu keyhole escutcheon. Above is the magnificent veneered Amethyst top with stunning most decorative designs and a lovely border framed within a mottled wrap around ormolu gallery.
*A similarly shaped and designed table is located in one of the bedrooms in the Palais de Versailles in Paris. — Read Less
