An exceptional French 18th century Régence period giltwood and Sienna marble console circa 1720. The wall mounted console is raised by elegant and most decorative scrolled tapered legs with fine block feet below beautiful acanthus leaves and delicate finely carved blooming flowers leading to striking intricately detailed palmettes at each corner. The legs are connected by a striking stretcher with impressive acanthus leaves centering a lovely pierced foliate reserve and a superb lattice background. The frieze displays stunning pierced swaging blooming flower garlands tied at each side by fine ribbons and topie finials leading to large richly carved flowing acanthus leaves below an exceptional and extremely decorative lattice background centering an outstanding seashell reserve in an exceptional satin and burnished finish.
