An elegant and most unique French 19th century 1st Empire Period ebonized Fruitwood, Mahogany, Brass, patinated Wood, and Giltwood Jardinière planter, circa 1805. This truly impressive Jardinière is raised by three patinated wood dolphin shaped legs accented with open Giltwood mouths and tails, while being supported by a triangular Mahogany base with concave sides. The three legs hold the rounded body with pointed base above. The pointed base is made of olive colored patinated green wood with fine gilded bands that introduce the array of parallel ebonized Fruitwood supports that make up the body. These Fruitwood bands lead upward toward the Mahogany top edge while leaving space to display the removable brass interior. — Read Less
