A striking and most unique French 19th century ormolu and Brèche Violette marble chandelier. The six arm chandelier is centered by a beautiful foliate finial with three finely detailed rams heads with a large acanthus leaf. At the center is a most impressive tapered Brèche Violette marble element below an elegantly curved support and a stunning floral basket. Richly chased swaging berried laurel garlands extend outwards connecting to the three pair of arms. Each arm is adorned with striking large acanthus leaves, reeded bobeches and charming floral candle cups. The elegant cage leads upwards from superb rinceau shaped scrolled movements centered by rosettes and is adorned with finely detailed palmettes in a striking satin and burnished finish. The top crown displays a most impressive fanned acanthus leaf design above outstanding block rosettes and swaging berried laurel garlands. All original gilt throughout. — Read Less
