An most elegant and extremely high quality French late 18th/ beginning of the 19th century, ormolu and Sèvres porcelain barometer, signed Giroux. The barometer has a central bottom acorn finial flanked by two 'S' scrolled acanthus leaves. A fitted Sèvres plaque is displayed above with a charming floating cherub holding a floral wreath in one hand and a laurel branch in the other, all framed within a Coeur de Rai ormolu border. The finely decorated porcelain circular dial is surrounded by chased ormolu bands of acanthus leaves and beads. Atop the dial is an oval framed Sèvres porcelain plaque with a cherub holding a telescope and a globe beside him. On each side are burnished and satin ormolu fruits. All original gilt throughout. — Read Less
