A beautiful and very high quality American 19th century Louis XVI st. patinated bronze plaque of George Washington by Anthony W. Jones circa 1858. The plaque displays an exceptional and most decorative oak branch with fine acorns and an olive branch tied with a charming ribbon at the base. The top displays a charming wonderfully executed flowing ribbon tied in a bow. At the center is the wonderfully executed and finely detailed profile of George Washington. All original patina throughout.
Anthony W. Jones (1792 - 1860) was an American Artist and Sculptor who achieved great success in the 19th century. Noteworthy works include his cast iron Rococo st. plaque of George Washington and "The Game of Life" plaque based on a painting by Friedrich Moritz August Retzsch. — Read Less
