A stunning and most important Italian late 18th century Baroque st. giltwood, polychrome, and faux painted marble center table. The table is raised by a striking scalloped shaped base with a fine curved and mottled design with fitted polychrome plaques and elegant rosettes. At the center is a remarkable octagonal column with handsome richly carved lion heads with a fluted design and a circular mottled base with fine wrap around palmette designs. Four powerful scrolled supports lead upwards decorated with intricately detailed acanthus leaves and blooming flowers in an exquisite satin and burnished finish below spectacular richly carved open winged cherubs with wonderful attention to detail seemingly holding up the top. The top displays concave sides and cut corners with stunning faux painted marble designs with a central Sienna marble circular reserve surrounded by spectacular masterfully executed Lapis Lazuli, Malachite, Brocatelle d'Espagne, Verde Antico, and Rouge Royale faux painted marbles to name but a few framed within a fine black Belgian faux painted marble border. — Read Less
