A sensational and high quality French early 18th Century Louis XV period rosewood, tulipwood and ormolu bombee chest, in the manner of Lebernin. The chest is raised by elegant legs with finely detailed pierced foliate ormolu mounts. The frieze is centered by a lovely and most decorative pierced scrolled foliate movement below the four drawers. Each drawer displays impressive and intricately chased ormolu pulls with detailed figures amidst charming flowers and a reeded pull. Each drawer also displays elegant ormolu keyhole escutcheons set on rosewood backgrounds and framed within tulipwood fillets while the two top drawers are separated by a faux, decorative escutcheon. Each corner displays exceptional scrolled foliate pieced ormolu mounts with charming and intricately detailed grapes, a seashell and a smooth cabochon in a rich satin and burnished finish. The sides display beautiful rosewood in a 'V' shaped design. Above is the original scallop shaped Gris St. Anne marble top with a fine mottled border. All original gilt throughout.
