An elegant French 18th century Louis XV period crouch mahogany and ormolu mounted partner's desk. The wonderfully scalloped shaped desk is raised by fine cabriole legs with striking pierced sabots and original casters. At each corner are richly chased pierced foliate ormolu mounts flanking the drawers to the front and back. At the front are three drawers, and at the rear is a faux central drawer, with a real drawer at each side. Each drawer is decorated with fine foliate handles and keyhole escutcheons. The central drawer opens to reveal an adjustable prop up writing surface with a gold tooled fitted writing surface which lifts up to a hidden storage underneath. The decorative scalloped shaped top displays a rich brown fitted gold tooled leather. All original gilt. — Read Less
