A very impressive French mid 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu and patinated Bronze statue by Mathurin Moreau titled "L'Aurore" or "The Dawn". This is the scene of a young female nymph stepping up Rouge Griotte marble stairs. The beautiful winged nymph stands draped in a richly chased flowing classical garment with her hair in an updo and tied with an ormolu bow. Her right hand secures her garment while her left hand gently holds a flower. In front of the maiden is a handsome and wonderfully executed fluted ionic column which supports an elegant bronze urn adorned with richly chased foliate movements and overflowing with ormolu flowers. Exceptional attention to detail and all original warm patina throughout. — Read Less
