A stunning and high quality French 18th century Louis XVI period mahogany, ormolu, brass and white Carrara marble freestanding console stamped J.B. VASSOU. The console is raised by four extremely elegant circular tapered legs with fine fluted designs, fitted brass chandelles and ormolu sabots. Each leg is connected by a bottom tier with an intricately pierced gallery. At the frieze is one central drawer with a lovely ormolu keyhole escutcheon and ormolu pulls framed in a fine beaded ormolu fillet. To each side are most unique doors that open outwards. To open you must first unlock the doors and then pull down a hidden release from under the console. Each door also displays a richly chased ormolu keyhole escutcheon framed within a beaded ormolu fillet. Above is the original fitted white Carrara marble top framed within a fine pierced ormolu gallery. — Read Less
