A most elegant French 19th century Louis XV st. Kingwood, Tulipwood, and ormolu partner desk/bureau plat. The six drawer desk is raised by handsome cabriole legs with striking pierced foliate ormolu sabots and impressive richly chased corner mounts of beautiful finely detailed maidens with feathers in their hair and amidst large most decorative scrolled designs with beaded and foliate accents. The elegant scalloped shaped Kingwood apron displays three drawers at the front as well as three drawers at the back each decorated with superb richly chased scrolled foliate ormolu pulls set on a Tulipwood background and separated by striking pierced scrolled foliate gadroons. Each side is centered by a remarkable ormolu mask of a beautiful maiden amidst lovely foliate designs with a distinctive palmette crown on her head and set on a beautiful background. Above is a fitted brown gold tool leather writing surface set within a most decorative quarter veneered border and a fine mottled ormolu gallery with richly chased foliate reserves at the corners.
