A most elegant French 19th century Louis XVI st. Giltwood and marble center table. The table is raised by fine circular tapered fluted legs with foliate top carvings. Each leg is connected by a decorative geometric stretcher with an Entrelacs et les Rosaces pattern. At the center of the pierced stretcher is an elegant 'Urn of Prosperity' with a top finial and draped by floral branches. At each corner of the top apron is a beautiful and richly carved block rosette. The sides are decorated by a central carved plaque with a smooth central cabochon with scrolled foliate branches on each side. On each side of the plaque are Rinceau shaped foliate movements and striking Entrelacs et les Rosaces. The sides and back are decorated the same. Above lays the original Varois marble top which follows the contours of the table, with protruding corners and a mottled border. All original gilt throughout. — Read Less
