A stunning and high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. Ormolu and white Carrara marble clock, signed Maison Marnyhac. This exquisite mantel clock is raised by a rectangular white Carrara marble base with four recessed panels containing Ormolu scrolled designs on each side atop topie shaped Ormolu feet. Above the marble base is the rectangular Ormolu cage with mottled edges and beaded bands along the bottom. The circular enameled dial displays fine pierced Ormolu hands, Roman hour numbers, Arabic minute numbers, and the signature at the center. Beneath the face is a large scale acanthus leaf flanked by scrolled foliate movements. Flanking the clock face are hanging berried floral vines with flowing bowed ribbons above. The two sides are decorated by additional berried foliate designs with flowing ribbons. Above the cage with its mottled and Coeur-de-Rai edges is the support of the white Carrara marble urn. The marble urn is tastefully decorated with scrolled handles, swaging berried laurel vines, and foliate spray coming from the top. — Read Less
