A spectacular and extremely high quality French 19th century Napoleon III period ebony, ormolu, brass, tortoiseshell, and blue stone two door cabinet. The cabinet is raised by striking and most unique foliate ormolu feet below fine block rosettes which flank the scalloped shaped frieze. The frieze displays an elegant inlaid brass fillet and is centered by a charming and finely detailed pierced ormolu mount of two lovely cherubs playing. At the center are two beautiful doors richly decorated with a stunning array of masterfully inlaid brass fillets with luxuriant scrolled foliate designs all framed within an ormolu band. The doors open to reveal one shelf and all original hardware. To each side are powerful ormolu acanthus leaf mounts and additional brass inlaid designs leading up to richly chased corner mounts of finely detailed maidens in a warm satin and burnished finish. Above is a beautiful band centered by a handsome ormolu mask amidst lovely foliate inlays. At each side is an outstanding central ormolu mount of a cherub draped in a flowing garment with his hand on a globe while holding a scroll in his other hand set on an ebony background and framed within a beaded border. Above is the original blue stone top fitted within a foliate ormolu band. All original gilt throughout. — Read Less
