A stunning and highly detailed French 19th century Renaissance st. Ormolu jewelry box, signed A.B. Paris. This beautiful box is raised by four topie shaped feet mounted under a rectangular base with foliate scrolls on all sides. Above the base is the body of the box which is decorated on all four sides with male and female figures dancing in a festive scene, sitting table side arm in arm with their loose fitting casual garments, tobacco pipes, mugs, and musical instruments. There is a keyhole centrally placed on the front panel. Each of the four sides are flanked along their edges with additional foliate scroll designs. Above the body of this elegant and joyful box is the lid with decorations of a celebratory atmosphere of soldiers on horseback with their guns and drinks in hand by the countryside. The edge of the lid has a mottled design with a burnished finish that flanks the joyous scene. The front edge of the lid has a cabochon shaped central reserve with a beaded trim.
