A magnificent and very unique Italian 18th century Baroque st. red polychrome, giltwood, and Brèche Violette marble Roman console. The freestanding console is raised by impressive elaborately scrolled legs with handsome paw feet and adorned with exceptional scrolled foliate designs leading to stunning richly carved maidens at each corner. Each leg is connected by a most decorative scalloped stretcher with fine giltwood borders leading to a striking central palmette like reserve with a whimsical giltwood mask. The frieze also displays lovely scalloped movements with fine foliate accents with a mottled border all below the beautiful original Brèche Violette marble top with a mottled border.
