  • Achille Bianchi was an Italian sculptor born February 16, 1837, in Milan. His father was an artist and he studied in Florence and Rome where he settled down in 1880. His studio, which was once owned by his friend Giovanni Lombardi and located on Via del Babbuino was from where he produced portraits for cemeteries and many exceptionally executed statues including "Desdemona" for which he was awarded a first-class metal at Oporto and decoration of the Knights of Christ. Among his masterworks are the statues of Kinzica de' Sismondi of Pisa and Alpinolo.
