A sensational and very high quality French 18th century Louis XVI period Biscuit De Sèvres porcelain figure grouping named "Judgment of Paris”. This statue is signed by Josse-Francois-Joseph Leriche and manufactured and signed by Sèvres. The statue depicts Paris wearing a Phrygian cap, lion's skin, breeches and sandals. Venus is scantily clad with a garland of laurel in her hair seated on clouds, while Paris kneels offering her the Golden Apple. Cupid stands to her right holding a dove and petting a spaniel while Minerva and Juno stand behind her. Minerva wears a helmet decorated with an owl and her shield designed with the head of Medusa. Juno is seated in her chariot with two peacocks and has pearls in her hair and wears a long gown flowing in the wind. The grouping seemingly amidst clouds is raised on a giltwood oval base. — Read Less
