A stunning and very high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. Moucheté mahogany buffet, circa 1880, attributed to Maison Krieger. The buffet is raised on topie feet with ormolu top caps below the frieze with top ormolu chased border. The two central doors have solid mahogany molded borders. They are decorated with exquisite and finely chased ormolu mounts of swaging foliate garlands, quivers, eternity flame torches ,wreaths and rosettes. A central recessed panel also accented with impressive and finley chased ormolu mounts. The central doors are flanked with fluted columns with ormolu chandelles. At each side are curved doors with the original curved beveled glass within molded borders accented with ormolu rosettes. At the apron are two front drawers and side curved drawers, accented with ormolu rosette blocks, keyhole escutcheon and ormolu handles. Above is the solid original Sarancolin marble top. With original warm patina throughout.
Maison Krieger was founded in Paris in 1826. In major exhibitions like the 19th century Exposition Universelle and the Exposition des Produits de l'Industrie in Paris. Receiving a medal for their exhibition at the Universal Exhibitions of 1851 in London, and again in 1855, Paris. Maison Krieger is recorded to have been an active client of François Linke. — Read Less
