A charming French 19th century Transitional st. tulipwood, ormolu and white Carrara marble secretary desk. The secretary is raised by fine cabriole legs with elegant foliate ormolu sabots. The scalloped shaped apron is centered by a fine ormolu mount below three drawers. Each of the drawers are decorated with a pierced central ormolu keyhole escutcheon with a charming tied ribbon and two berried laurel pulls at either side set on a butterfly veneered tulipwood background and framed in a beautiful charmwood band. The drop front 'Abattan' above displays faux leather books with fine gold tooled writing which opens to reveal a fitted gold tooled leather writing surface, two shelves and two small drawers. Above is the original fitted white Carrara marble top framed within a fine pierced wrap around ormolu gallery. All original gilt and patina throughout. — Read Less
