A handsome and most impressive Italian mid 18th century walnut commode from Naples, circa 1740. The chest is raised by elegant lightly scrolled supports below an elegant mottled stepped wrap around band at the base. At the center are four drawers, each decorated with richly chased bronze pierced foliate keyhole escutcheons set on a fine recessed background showcasing the beautiful walnut grain. At each side are charming and most decorative curved faux doors and additional recessed panels.
