A superb French early 18th century Louis XV period ormolu clock, signed Gaudrons du Roy, Paris. The clock is raised on an ormolu base with luxuriant scrolled movements. Below the face and centering the clock is an intricately detailed reserve depicting an eternal flame and quiver tied together with a ribbon. The enamel dial is surrounded by richly chased foliage and blossoming flowers. Above is an urn of prosperity with overflowing branches of leaves and flowers with a central rose blossom at the top.
