An exceptional and unique French 19th century Louis XVI st. Belle Époque period patinated bronze, ormolu and glass side table stamped Paillard. The low table is raised by an octagonal base displaying the stamp of Paillard and with a beautiful wrap around berried laurel band below an elegantly curved design and reeded band. At the center are two charming and richly chased winged cherubs draped in a wonderfully executed swaging garland seemingly holding up the glass top centered by a ball reserve.
Victor Paillard (1805 -1886) a renowned Bronzier. Exhibited at the Fine Arts & Industry Exhibition in 1839. Paillard is most renowned for his work at one of the French Republic's most prestigious edifices the Quai d'Orsay, the French Foreign Ministry, located on the left bank of the Seine River in Paris. Also displayed at the Salon du Congrès and the Salon de l'Horloge, where the sophistication and technical brilliance of his work is evident. — Read Less
