An exceptional and very high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. Rouge Griotte marble and Ormolu lamp, attributed to Paul Sormani. The brûle parfum lamp is raised by a circular fitted marble base atop a mottled edge Ormolu plate with a lovely richly chased central foliate mount and supported by three tapered legs surrounding a spiraling snake. The three lightly curved legs lead upwards to the intricately detailed Bacchanalian satyr masks adorned with scrolled horns and grape clusters, each connected by remarkable vines with lovely etched leaves. Above each satyr are berried laurel vines centering the most decorative Rouge Griotte marble body with an elegantly curved border and pierced foliate wrap around Ormolu band.
