A stunning and extremely high quality pair of Italian early 18th century Louis XV period Cherrywood, burl Elm, Kingwood, ormolu, mother of pearl and Sienna marble commodes, circa 1720. Each exceptional bombee shaped two drawer commode is raised by elegant lightly curved legs with fine fitted scrolled sabots. Above the lovely arbalest shaped frieze are the two drawers, each decorated with an exceptional and most decorative circular central inlaid Kingwood reserve with exquisite mother of pearl accents flanked by richly chased scrolled foliate ormolu pulls set on a spectacular burl Elm background and framed within a fine herringbone and Cherrywood border. The sides also display striking circular central reserves with beautiful mother of pearl accents also set on a most decorative burl Elm background. Above are the original Sienna marble tops with a wonderful double mottled border and rounded corners. All original gilt throughout. — Read Less
